Moses' Birthday Party!

We really had a great day for Moses' party. We filled the backyard with baby pools and outdoor toys. The kids had a ball. The humidity stayed away and the yard was nice and shadey so the adults enjoyed themselves too!

We had pizza and other snacks, mostly Moses' favorite. We figured out recently that Moses loves Hawaiian pizza (ham and pineapple!) so we made sure he had plenty! He really tried to blow out his candles but needed a little help from daddy. You were way more interested in tasting the frosting.

It was a great low key birthday! We have the absolute best friends and family and appreciate them so much for taking the time to celebrate with us and for their generous gifts. Let's just say they know how much Mickey and Buzz are loved at this house! Thanks for the memorable day!

Moses is TWO!

Oh sweet boy, you are two years old!! It amazes me how much you learn everyday. You talk so much now. You speak in full sentences. Everyday I hear something new from you. You are always saying "See Mom? See Daddy? Look!" You don't want us to miss anything you do.

You love to laugh and be silly. We have discovered that you are VERY ticklish under your arms. Daddy will blow bubbles under your arms and you will squeal and laugh and then yell "quit it, daddy!" You still like to dance around and sometimes I will catch you singing or humming to yourself when you are playing. If you like a song you will clap after it ends and say "do it again!"

You are an early riser. You wake up in the morning and call for daddy. You immediately are ready to eat and start your day. You are so sweet when daddy leaves for work. You give him kisses and hugs and sometimes call out goodbye to him until he can't hear you anymore. You aren't sad you are just sweet!

You still love Mickey Mouse and are obsessed with Buzz Lightyear. You received Buzz from us for your birthday and you really love him! (Mommy on the other hand wishes he still lived at Target) You like to color a little and also like to play with tools. The flashlight is your favorite.

We have been pacifier free for two weeks! It was not as bad as I thought it would be. However, you don't sleep as well as you used to. Falling asleep is a lot harder for you. You still have your Rocky dog to sleep with and you will sometimes chew on him.

You love it when daddy comes home. You like to play a trick on him by locking the dead bolt and having him knock. You bless your food before you eat. We are still so lucky that you are a good eater. But you still love pizza and chicken!

Moses you love to snuggle with mommy before you go to bed. We talk and laugh and then daddy comes in too. You love to make us kiss each other and then you.

Moses we love you so much! You are becoming such a big boy!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

I try to always write the "happier" times of our lives, but let me tell you we have our moments. Yesterday seemed to be a combination of all sorts of emotions.

It is tax free weekend in NC. Items like clothing and school supplies are sales tax free. Usually, unless it is Target or the grocery store I don't have a reason to go shopping! I decided to venture out with Moses to the mall. Usually he is fine as long as we are moving, so I decided to take him to his first trip to the Disney Store. I usually have a rule about toys while we are shopping...I don't buy them. We hold them and look at them and put them back when we are done. This time we picked two small inexpensive Buzz Lightyear toys. It made me SO proud that when we went to the register he tried to give them back instead of take them with us.

It kept him happy for a little while, but that little boy did NOT want to be in a stroller. We ate lunch and he asked to go back to the Disney Store. We went back and that's when we found Handy Manny's tool box with all the tools. I can say even I wanted him to have it. So I made an exception and bought him the toy. He was beyond excited and I was too when it bought me some more time.

But, you can't buy happiness! He eventually began to get frustrated with trying to take them all out and being confined to a stroller. I stopped and tried to help him get his toys like he wanted them. He got mad and tossed one of the toys out. I told him if he did it again that I was taking them away. Obviously, he did not believe me! He threw the toy and I took them away. That is when the crying started. It was time to go. I felt awful pushing a crying child through the mall. I also HATED the looks I was getting, mostly from older couples! I really felt I had to stand my ground.

Looking, back 24 hours later it really wasn't that bad. But in the moment, sweaty, flustered and frustrated all I wanted to do was cry! So, this is glimpse on a not so perfect mommy (and child) moment for me!

Playing with Camille!

Last week we had our friends Laura and Nick and their daughter Camille over. She is SOO cute. Like, with Barnes he tried to hold her hand and hug her. We took this picture of them sitting on the bed. Afterwards we told them that they couldn't do it again unless they got married! Thanks for coming over guys! We had a blast!

Going Potty!

Moses has officially pooped in the potty! It was one time, and it hasn't happened since but it is still a big deal! I think we'll officially start potty training this fall. We have a lot of changes taking place. As you can see we still have some items to learn to live without and he will start preschool in September. I'm hoping that since he will be one of the youngest in his class he will see other children going and that will make him interested. Right now he will tell us that he needs to "try potty." We'll get there soon I'm sure!

The Making of a Birthday Cake

Moses is learning how to cook! I decided to let him help me make Brett's birthday cake after lunch last week. He helped pour the ingredients in the bowl but decided that the mixer was not for him. He even watched the cake through the oven door.
His favorite part? The icing of course! (No he did not ice the cake anymore after licking this!) He stood there getting the last little bit of icing off for a long time. This week he has walked in the kitchen a few times and said, "make cake?" Watch out Food Network, here comes Moses!

Daddy's Birthday!

Brett's birthday was last week! We sort of got Moses to say, Happy Birthday Daddy! Brett and I were able to enjoy dinner and a movie while Amy watched Moses. I feel so lucky that Moses has such a wonderful father and I have such a loving husband. We love you so much Brett!!
