Miss Noble

Growing up, I was blessed with two wonderful grandmothers who loved me dearly.  However, I was lucky enough that God granted me one extra one too!  From the time I was born, Miss Noble (who I some how began calling Babapple when I first began to talk) and her husband were a huge fixtures in my life.  They were more to our family than just next door neighbors.  I spent so much time with them playing, cooking, or sneaking grape tomatoes out of the garden.  Even though we moved she remained a huge part of our life.

When I got married, I was SO surprised that she was able to attend the wedding.  She was nearly 90 so I thought there was no way she could make the trip, but she was there!  I think she was the first person I went to hug!  She had a great time and even danced with her son.

Last week, at the age of 95, Miss Noble passed away.  At her funeral, I was reminded about how much she enjoyed caring for other people.  I knew this firsthand.  I know after having her for so many years her family dearly misses her...I know I do.  Please join me in lifting them up in prayer as they begin a life without her.

NC Ag Fest 2012

Last year, our playgroup ventured out to the fairgrounds for NC Ag Fest.  We had so much fun we decided to do it again this year!  The best part was the new wrist band offer.  You could pay a flat fee and get band and it meant you could ride all the rides.  Best.Idea.Ever!  There were never any lines so you could just hope from one ride to another!

Before we got started riding, we stopped to watch the pigs, ducks and goats race.  The kids loved looking at the little animals!

We really had a great time.  Last year we came home and talked daddy into going back.  This year daddy had a cold and there was no way I way I was taking Sutton on there again when he wasn't able to do anything....So, Brett watched Sutton and Moses and I went back!  He still had his wrist band and I got one too and we spent over two hours riding rides and looking at tractors!  It was so much fun!  His favorite ride this year?  The swings, can you tell?

Mother's Day

Mother's Day weekend this year was a little hectic.  We made sure we visited all the mothers, grand mothers and great grandmothers at some point!  Brett asked me the week before what I wanted for Mother's Day.  I told him I needed a day off.  During the week.  Not having any family nearby for any sort of babysitting relief can really take a toll.  Most of my friends have a grandparent nearby who can take the kids for a couple of hours so that they can do some errands or do things around the house without cute little people slowing them down.  Can I tell you how envious I am of this!  

So, the Monday before Mother's Day Brett became Mr. Mom!  I had a TON of errands to run.  Moses has outgrown most of his shirts and pjs and also needed a new car seat.  I wanted to go to the moving sale at Babies R Us, to to Target alone, and the list went on and on.  I ran so many errands, by the time I got home I was exhausted!  Next time I get a day off, I think I will try to slow it down a bit and maybe throw in a pedicure!  It was the perfect idea though.  Brett was able to give me something I never get!  It was better than any car or flowers!

First Toes in the Sand

 Last weekend Sutton was able to walk through the sand for the first time.  It was a beautiful day and I was really hoping for lots of running around and playing.  The combination of a bad night's sleep/very short nap/sunscreen in his eyes made for a short trip.  He did seem engaged by the sand and the water and play time with his favorite people.  

 Brother had lots of fun running and playing and building sand castles.

But the newcomer didn't last long.  Mom took him back to her friend's house and gave him a bath while the rest of us played.  She said he fell asleep before she could get his diaper on!  Our little buddy did learn that the best naps are after a day of fun and sun at the beach!

Weekend Fun

 These boys have been keeping me CRAZY busy lately.  I am worn out constantly.  That sweet little face is one of three growing "boys" eating me out of house and home!  More on that later!

Last weekend we went to stay with my parents to celebrate my dad's birthday!  On Saturday, daddy and papa were doing some boat cleaning, mom and I took the boys to the aquarium.  Moses loves it there and I was curious to see how Sutton would react now that he was old enough to understand his surroundings.  He was very interested!  The first few times we saw a tank he would peer in and smile.  Then he reached his hand out expecting to grab a fish and was a little frustrated when he hit glass!  He especially liked the otters and was delighted to see them swim by.  Moses was so busy the entire time and was hard to keep up with.  While we were there Gaga bought us a two year membership to the zoological society!  It is really a bargain and lets us visit any NC aquarium and our zoo FREE.  I'm seeing many more visits in our future!

 Sutton also enjoyed his first boat ride while we were there.  Moses begs to go on the boat every day when we are at my parent's house.  (Note, any time of the year!)  The weather was overcast, but no rain  was in site so we headed out.  Sutton was ok, not too thrilled with this life jacket but tolerated it really well!

 The most exciting thing for Moses during this trip was getting pulled by the Coast Guard!  It's a regular thing for them to be out checking boats, kind of like a license check point on the road.  However, dad hadn't been stopped in years so we hadn't had the opportunity for Moses to meet the police on the water!  All of the guys were SO nice to Moses.  I wanted to take a picture but when they are inspecting your boat and checking credentials you don't want to bother!  Papa checked out perfectly and we were on our way back.  Sutton fell asleep just like Moses often does and ended up sleeping another hour snuggled up to Gaga on the couch.  I don't think she was upset!

Back to my growing boys...the amount and variety of food they are eating these days is CRAZY!  I cooked pretty much all weekend but of course the men had to use the outdoor kitchen to prepare some seafood.  There were steamed clams and crabs and Moses devoured them.  He tried a clam last year and didn't like it, but this year he LOVES them.  I am so glad that he is so willing to try new things!  Love these boys of mine!
