Where is this month going?
Last Friday we started a playgroup. We have about ten mommies with babies ranging from 5 weeks to 8 months. It has been SO AWESOME. I love all of the girls and it is so fun to have lunch and sit on a quilt and watch the babies play. We can swap lots of war stories and get advice from each other. Moses is already playing and interacting with the other babies. All of us really enjoy it.
I'd also like to update everyone on the sleep issues that I mentioned several weeks ago. Things are so much better. Moses has been sleeping through the night nearly every night. Morning naps are going well, but we struggle in the afternoon. Brett has started getting up earlier to spend some time with Moses in the morning. This is helpful especially if I have had to get up in the middle of the night. I also think it is great for the two of them. Since I am at home all day with him, I realize how little awake time during the week Brett actually gets with Moses. The mornings are his happiest times so it is very special for them to have that time.
Another update is with solids. Moses HATES the rice cereal so we have moved on the applesauce and soon other fruits and veggies. He liked those much better, but is still not too thrilled with it. It is so strange because he is also so into what we are eating. He even grabbed a handful of Brett's ice cream at church on Wednesday.
Sorry about the long post! I will try to do it more often. We have some adventures awaiting us this week. (New cooking equipment and visitors!) Love from all of us!

Moses' Dedication!
Sunday was a very special for our family. Moses was dedicated at Hayes Barton! I have watched so many baby dedications over the past few years and it was one of the first things I thought of when the shock of being pregnant wore off.
I was very nervous that Moses would have some freak crying spell which would be totally out of character for him or worse have an "accident" while we were up there...not so out of character! Of course everything was fine. He did get a little squirmy as I was handing him over but he listened very intently to what Dr. Hailey had to say.
After church we had a reception for him in the youth room at the church with all our friends and family. It was so nice for everyone to spend time with Moses and each other. It was the best way I knew how to thank those who have been a special part of our lives. Katherine Teague, Elizabeth Hamilton, Melissa Barker and Bill and Kathy Teague were my angels who helped mom and I with the food and decorations. I honestly do not know what I would have done without them. They made my life SO easy that day. I also did not know Bill had such superior decorating skills! I love you all and thank you for helping us not only the day of the dedication but whenever I seem to need you. I will close with the verse we chose for Moses:
For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you maybe filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in the manner of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. - Colossians 1:9-10

Dear Sweet Husband
Two years ago tonight we said "i do" which now means we will. We will have a great marriage and work to make it better every day. We will be wonderful parents to our son and hopefully more little Barkers. We will laugh often and love deeply.Thank you so much for being such a wonderful husband and father. I can't imagine anything better!

The night before...
I had a great time at our rehearsal dinner. I am pretty sure everyone else did too. We were the first people to book an even at the State Club. I was nervous because I always go on personal referrals for everything I do. It turned out to be absolutely beautiful. It was so nice to get to spend extra time with the people we were closest to that weekend.
I think what everyone remembers most about that night is the "Brett Barker Filibuster." Brett is not shy about talking and given even more liquid courage he can go on and on...and he did. We still laugh about it when Brett gives toasts at other weddings. We start giving him the wrap it up signal before he even gets started!
I didn't want to leave when the limo came to get us. Joelle, Erin and I hopped in the car with my parents. That is when my parents learned that the three of us were still a little energized from all of our dancing and wine consumption. My favorite quote for the ride home.."Let's eat Doritos...because we can!"

Anniversary Week!
Tuesday we will celebrate two years of marriage. Yippeee!!! So I am going to hopefully post some reflections of that weekend and honeymoon week as well as some of my favorite pictures. I am sure all of you have seen them a MILLION times but every girl thinks her wedding pictures are special and fabulous so please indulge me!
Getting married in January after the holidays was the best idea. No one really has plans and most people are kind of bummed that all the parties and fun are over. The only big fear I had about the entire thing was an ice storm. I wasn't worried about no one showing up, but that my poor father would be busy organizing power crews and not able to enjoy himself. Well, being that you can never tell what winter weather can be like in NC, we were very pleasantly surprised to be dealing with temps in the 70's. Who would have thought?
I spent the few days before the wedding holed up in a hotel with my buddy and maid of honor Joelle. SO MUCH FUN!! She was exactly the calming influence I needed. She even kidnapped my phone for two hours one day and insisted I nap. I also had a hotel full of friends and family for the rest of the weekend. It was wonderful. By the way. The pictures that I post are some my friend Holly took. My "professional" photographer is very old school and does a great album so I wanted some for online that I could share. She is wonderful!
