Flipping Out

Hey everybody! It's Moses here! I learned a new trick and my mommy wanted me to tell you about it. Mom was tickling me the other day and I squirmed so much I learned something new! If I push against her belly and arch my back when I am lying on her knees I can flip over! It is so much fun. I just can't keep still anymore and this is something new to occupy my fidgety legs. Here are some pictures for you to see.

Six Month Photoshoot

Right before Moses was born I saw the work of Melanie Mansfield. I just LOVED her photography and the way she seemed to really capture the individuality of the people she was working with. We did Moses' shoot a couple of weeks ago and I am thrilled with the way the pictures turned out. I was a little concerned because Moses seemed a little off that afternoon (he couldn't stay sitting up for some reason!), but you would never know by these pictures!

Go Furman!? Go Pack!

The thing this mommy loves most about Saturdays? Sleeping in! Well sleeping till around 9:30am. Usually on Saturdays Brett takes Moses when he gets up and they watch Sesame Street while I try to get a few extra hours of sleep. This is how I found them when I woke up. Seems they both of them needed some extra sleep too.
On these mornings I just never know what Brett will decide to dress Moses in. Seems he discoverd that Moses' Furman t-shirt fits! Will and Emily gave Moses a Furman tshirt shortly after he was born in the smallest size they could fine. I decided to take a picture for them. Well the little guy was definately into the photo session and just hammed it up as you can see.

Later that afternoon Brett and Moses had their first father/son activity. Of course an NC State game. Moses got an opportunity to see his first basketball ACC win thankgoodness. As for me, what does a woman with very little free time do when she gets four hours in the middle of the day to do whatever she wants. She cleans house of course!
After Brett and Moses got home we headed to Elizabeth and Shannon's to celebrate Shannon's birthday. Lucky for us Shannon cooked his famous BBQ pork even though it was his birthday. We are so glad he liked his gift a 10 pack of Kool-Aid!Sunday was brought with a grumpy baby. I can see the first glimmer of a tooth coming in. We had kind of a rough night and I can tell he is not very comfortable. Even a little grumpy he is still a sweet baby boy!

Six months old this week!

Six months old this week! We went to our well child visit and they said he looks great! He is 17.9lbs (50 percentile) and 28.5 inches long (97 percentile). He also had to get two shots for his immunizations. I know like all mothers I HATE this but he didn't even cry! I was so releived because I know how important the vaccinations are.

I have also noticed a little bulge where the bottom teeth should be coming in. He has been restless sleeping at night so I think they are bothering him some. He will probably have a little tooth soon.

We have taken off the hammock part of his tub since he is sitting up so well. This lets him splash and play more at bath time. He discovered splashing last week at my mom's house. We gave him a bath in the sink and he discovered all the fun that slapping the water could make!

I was right about him starting to show signs of pulling up. Yesterday, Moses was scooting around the living room near our entertainment center. I turned to pick up a toy and he was on his knees holding on to the bottom shelf. EEEK! I have a feeling we will be doing some baby proofing this weekend. He also is enamored with the marble around the fireplace. Probably because it is cool and shiney.

He is eating all sorts of fruits and vegetables and meal time and he is doing well getting three solid feedings and around four sessions of nurisings a day. Feedings are definately harder when he is teething!

Back to reality...

On Wednesday we left for Emerald Isle to take a mini vacation. Yes, we were staying with my parents and going to a wedding, but with all the help I get there it feels like a vacation! Brett and I were also able to sneak in some time for ourselves. I quick bike ride one afternoon and a movie one night. We also took Moses down to Morehead City and had lunch with my friend Brian Parker.

The main reason we went to EI was to see Franklin and Rebecah get married. Franklin grew up across the street from me in Kinston. We were a very close knit neighborhood and that is what I probably miss most about living in Kinston. The wedding was very sweet and had so many personal touches. My favorite was using the firetruck as the get-a-way car. Franklin as been a volunteer firefighter for awhile now and has always loved firetrucks. I can't wait to see the pictures of them on it.

As far as Moses goes, he is getting bigger every day. Bascially he getting into everything. He is so curious about everything. He loved looking at the water at the beach and playing with his grandparents. He is not crawling just yet but can "scoot" or "creep" very well. He can get to what he wants. I've noticed some signs as well that he might start pulling up soon. He is doing really well with solids and is a big fan of all the fruits. Now that we are home, I am going to up his feedings to three times a day. The other big step is when we go out to eat now he is in a high chair! No more lugging around the car seat!!! We tried it once a few weeks ago when we were eating with Carrie and Tanner. Carrie always makes me be brave! Of course he did great and it makes feeding him so easy. It seems like we have small milestones all the time now! He is growing so fast!

ROOOAARRR and a Warm Weekend

This past week my little baby has turned into a little lion. He will grunt and roar. If you make the noise back at him he will laugh and make the noise again. It's really cute until we take him out in public and he grunts like crazy! My dad thinks this is especially funny.

We have also been enjoying nice warm weather! When Moses was born I was too sick to take him outside much. I feel like it went from warm to too cold way too fast and I just couldn't get him out. It has been so nice these past few days to take him out in his stroller and walk around. He just loves it and babbles and of course grunts and roars. I know that spring is still a few weeks away so we will just have to take advantage of this weather while it lasts!

Playing catch up

It's been awhile since I have blogged...basically because we have been busy. Moses is still doing well and is really trying to crawl now. He will get up on all fours and rock back and forth. He can scoot backwards but has not made any forward progress yet. I think it will be any day. We have moved the coffee table out of our living room to give him some room to roll around and play. He really enjoys this!

We also experienced our first sickness! Moses woke up Thursday morning with a runny nose and a very low grade fever. His temp was better the next day but we are still working with a runny nose. Today he had pretty much had it with us touching his face and trying to clean it up. On top of that, I think he is teething so drool is running too!

We had some picutres made today so sometime next week I will post link to his new gallery so you guys can get a "professional" look at how he is growing!
