Beach baby, beach baby

As of Friday, our address is Archer's Creek Drive, Emerald Isle...well for about two weeks. I hate fighting July 4th traffic so I decided to come down to the beach and stay. Brett is currently working back in Raleigh for about three days, but he will back soon.

This weekend I really wanted to take Moses to experience the real sand. He's been to the pool and out on the boat but I wanted him to get a feel of the sand between...well everything! We took him on the boat to Coast Guard Island and let him loose. Of course he had to taste the sand a few times and finally realized that it was not for him. It was a great day, but a little hot. We stayed for a couple of hours which was just long enough for a first trip. We have been spending a lot of time in Moses' baby pool that Mimi and Papa got for him. Apparently, this pool is clothing optional.
To complicate the beginning of our trip, Moses is now cutting two more teeth. I knew something was off when he was running a fever late in the day and early evening with no other symptoms. And then he was just plain CRANKY for two days. I finally got a good look the other day and saw that the teeth next to his top fronts are break through. And his current favorite teether? Cold watermelon! My sweet and great sleeping boy is slowly making his way back. I am definitely looking forward to that!

NOT ME MONDAY!

I read a blog of a lady who does what is called Not Me Mondays and I am DEFINITELY having one so here goes!

I didn't care my ten month old to a home inspection at 8am this morning. Nope not me. I also did not give up on keeping him away from the dog's kong toy during that inspection. I would never carry him in the office and give him my cell phone to play with so I could get some paper work done. I would never. I also would not let my perfectly health baby boy crawl on the floor at the pediatrician's office. He also absolutely did not play with the toys in the waiting room. Only a mad woman would do that. We also did not feed him a meal of sweet potatoes, spaghetti sauce, oranges and puffs. That would not do at this house!

Well as Forrest Gump would say, "We are not relation," but we claim the Wilmington branch of the Barker family. Thanks to Jeff, Daniel is our pseudo brother and on Saturday he got hitched to his girlfriend Catherine. They had their reception at Brett's personal favorite place on earth, Vaughn Towers at Carter Finley Stadium. It was so special being there with them that day. You could tell how excited they are to be starting their lives together. It was also great to spend some time with Jeff who is now living in Dallas. I definitely miss his sense of humor! Here are some pics below.
As for Moses, he spent the evening with his hot date Blair Winter. Thanks for rescuing us Blair! You were the answer to my two week plus baby sitter prayers!

Wordless Wednesday


Ten Months Old

Happy ten months Moses!! I think personality would be the word to sum up this age. Moses has started making the funniest faces and doing hilarious things. What's he up to? Well...

- He climbed our stairs all by himself (Mommy helped him down)
- Starting to take steps!
- Standing on his own. He can sometimes stand on his own with out pulling up.
- Eating all sorts of different things! He recently tried watermelon, pasta with meatballs, pancakes, waffles, blueberries, oranges, pineapple, and scrambled eggs.
- He can open drawers and cabinets (has also figured out one of the child proof latches)
- Loves to climb
- His favorite room to play in is our bathroom. He loves to take all my shoes off the shelves.
- Thinks looking in the mirror is soooo funny.
- Loves to push things and walk behind them.
- Has started stacking things

I am sure there is a lot I'm leaving out, so if you know my little one leave a comment about what you like to see him do! We go to the doctor on Monday for a weight check so I will have that information soon.

Almost forgot Taylor!


Taylor came for a visit on Sunday. I have been so busy/sick/gone that my mind must have not been with it when I blogged. We grilled chicken and made stuffed potatoes and munched all afternoon. Taylor loves watching all of the funny things Moses does. All those Barker boys, they are just too much!
